One Tree Hill is such a quiet, almost polite show, that you may not know that their ratings are much better than the much hyped Gossip Girl, or sexy Melrose Place!

One Tree Hill is one of those indestructable shows, which has weathered countless scheduling changes, brave choices and the loss of their leading couple.
One Tree Hill was only a last minute swap, seven seasons ago, when the crime show originally planned for that slot fell through. The show started off kinda wobbly, but gained popularity over the first season when they dropped the original Nathan-and-Lucas-hating-each-other theme and became the new Dawson’s Creek.

Apparently, normal people prefer to watch other (sort of) normal people rather than high flying Upper Eastside kids. Actress Shantel VanSanten, of The Final Destination, summed it up nicely:
“I’m from Minnesota, and both my grandma and my friends can watch the show and relate to the issues because most of it is about real life – just not real life in LA or New York.’’
