CSI: Jorja returns! And Grissom as well?

Jul 30, 2009 Author: Liz | Filed under: CSI

CSI was left flaundering a bit at the end of last season, after losing three of its main characters in the past year. That may have been the reason why the producers got Jorja Fox aka Sara Sidle to come back for a couple of episodes.

Grissom: the movie!

William Petersen in CSI movie

William Petersen in CSI movie

CSI Alum William Petersen has confirmed that there are indeed plans for a CSI movie. “It’s about finding the right story, there has got to be a real reason to do it.” the star told BBC news.

Petersen left the show earlier this year for a bit of a breather. He has been replaced by Matrix star Laurence Fishburne, but he might be back next season.

Usually producers wait until a series is completely finished before embarking on a film project but Petersen says they dont have that much time: “we can’t wait for CSI to end or Grissom will be about 90.”

CSI: No Way Out (9×17) video

Mar 19, 2009 Author: Liz | Filed under: CSI, Celebrities

After a major shootout in a quiet neighbourhood, Langston and Riley get taken hostage by a 14 year old kid.

I´m not sure about this ep. The actor playing the 14 year old was terrible, the story felt old, they could do with some fresh writers.

However, I always like Langston, I think Laurence Fishburne is an incredible actor and I´m glad the ratings are back up for CSI, after they went down for a few weeks after GFrissom left. Riley was ultimately cool under pressure! I was unsure about her as well, but she´s growing on me. I like that even without Grissom they are a good team and a family.  Still, an average ep, hope they step it up soon!

Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy in Class

Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy in Class

Ok, I officially feel a thousand years old. I can still remember when Andrew McCarthy was hot, and now he´s playing someone´s grandpa. Ouch.

Whatever happened to the bratpack?

I even read the book, Looking for Andrew McCarthy, where a thirtysomething does just that. But, whereas most people remember him from Pretty in Pink, where he was actually a bit of a jerk, my favorite McA flick would have to be Class.  He´s a geeky kid from the wrong side of the tracks and gets hunky popular studmuffin Rob Lowe as a roommate. And sleeps with his mom. Jacqueline Bisset. Who was also still hot back then. God, I miss the bratpack! Why did they have to grow up to be old (McA), fat (Judd Nelson) awol (Emilio Estevez) or wear way more eyeliner than any guy really should (Rob Lowe)?

The scene where Rob Lowe beats McA´s brains out is priceless. Here´s McA hooking up with Lowe´s hot mom

CSI: The Grave Shift (S09E11)

Laurence Fishburne

Laurence Fishburne

Langston shows up for his first day in a suit and tie and a giant suitcase filled with everything a csi may ever need. Nick and Langston then get called out to a robbery, but while they’re on the scene there’s a huge explosion nearby and Langston gets to work his first homocide.

I have to say it: I like Laurence Fishburne. A LOT.
The good doctor’s first assignment proved a bit dull, but I like him as an agent.
It’s interesting to see how hard it is to do the stuff the others seem to do with such ease. Dusting for prints is something you have to practise. Liked the cornmealbomb, but missed an edge to the case.
Let’s hope Langston gets to show more of his stuff next time!

CSI: One to go. Grissom’s final curtain!

Jan 16, 2009 Author: Liz | Filed under: CSI, Celebrities

Gil Grissom

I LIKED it!

Grissom had his final moment. I guess there could’ve been a little more hugging, a couple more speeches. Not a lot of tears were shed, hell, they didn’t even buy the guy a DRINK! It was a pretty good serial killer case though, in a very CSI way.

Yes, I know the science sucked. I read a really cool article about how badly the science sucked in this particular ep here. The computers they use are also a joke which, as I am married to a programmer, results in a whole lot of eye roling and gesticulation.

Who ever typed ‘blablashoes’ into a search engine and was then blissfully led to the correct site? Without having to browse through thousands of pages flogging Viagra?
Still, what got my yay-side going was the terrific camera work. I don’t know what they did or how much it cost, but this episode looked so GOOD!

Also I like Laurence Fishburne as a replacement for Grissom.

I do share the reservations other bloggers have voiced about the exit rate at CSI. I for one was very happy when Jorja Fox left, because whenever she opens her mouth she makes me cringe and the loss of Warrick I can easily handle. Still, it seems we’re left with a bit of a bench team: if Marg Helgenberger has any more work done on her lips she’ll set some sort of record! George Eads has sadly let himself go and is looking more and more like Hyacint Bucket every day. Greg lost his biggest asset, his hair, and now just looks like a skinny college nerd. Luckily, there’s always my knight in shining armor: Jim Brass, aka Paul Guilfoyle. He still looks exactly the same, nay, even better than when the show started.

Add Laurence Fishburne to that and I’d say we’re good to go. And, sappy as it was, I was kinda happy for those two weirdo’s with their bugs in Costa Rica, even though my navigation cannot even find me a gas station, let alone my long lost love, off in the jungle somewhere!

CSI: Grissom’s final case?

Jan 15, 2009 Author: Liz | Filed under: CSI, Celebrities

All famous detectives have to face the final curtain at some point. When inspector Derrick took his leave, half the world tuned in to see ‘is he dead yet?’ (as one of the headlines in a German newspaper read)
Very late spoiler alert: the inspector lived and went on to rule Interpol. Another inspector, Morse was less fortunate. NYPD Detectice Kelly just packed his bags over night and left to guard rich people. While there couldn’t be a Derrick without Derrick, nor a Morse without Morse, NYPD Blue got along just fine without David Caruso. However, will CSI survive without Grissom? Or Warrick or Sarah?

Grissom has been having a hard time of it, loosing both Warrick and Sarah. “The easiest way to describe Grissom is ‘in crisis,’” Petersen said in an interview last year. “As a man. As a scientist. As a teacher. As a middle-aged person who has been very successful at what he’s done… [he] wonders, ‘What’s the
point?’

So he has to go. But should Grissom die or take the Derrick-road? It would be a good ending, a shoot out, a scary serial killer, burried alive…. On the other hand, he could simply move out to Boca with Sarah. Unlikely, but it would be way more romantic.

“I wouldn’t want to say exactly what we’re going do — I want people to watch, certainly,” Peterson said in an interview. “But Sara is involved… It’s often darkest just before the dawn.”

Does that mean Sarah tries to shoot him? I’ll definitely be tuning in to see whether he lives!
