Actress Renee Zellweger is thrilled to star in yet another Bridget Jones. Probably because she hasn’t done anything anyone’s been to see in decades. (Cinderella man anyone?)

Now I loved the Bridget Jones books, if you haven’t read them, you’re in for a fun night or two. I even took a guilty pleasure in watching the first movie. Twice. With all my girlfriends. But enough is enough! Part one was fun, part two was an insult, part three is probably going to be far worse than we could ever imagine, as it deals with Bridget in her late thirties wanting a baby. Yikes.

And now there’s even talk that the one redeeming factor, Colin Firth (older, but still dreamy) may not be in the movie! What? That leaves us with only Renee “can’t act my way out of a fatsuit” Zellweger!

Darling Renee has managed to find time to complain about putting on all that weight again: “Can I just tell you my body is whacked by the time we finish one of those?” Even the pigging out is no fun when it’s work: “For two days it’s bliss… Then after a week your glucose levels are going crazy. You’re up and down and all over the place. It doesn’t feel good, and no one wants to hear that, but it’s the truth.” Yeah Renee. That’s why it’s called work, it’s not supposed to be fun. Anyway, if Colin Firth is not going to be in it, count me out!

I wish they’d lose those menacing choirs though, there has hardly been a movie trailer over the past ten years that hasn’t has had this Carl Orffish rip off music. There’s probably one cd with this stuff that they pass around in Hollywood. Enough already!

Bradley Cooper Hangover sequel in the works?

According to Bradley Cooper, there is definitely going to be a sequel to the smash hit The hangover. Then again, Bradley has been known to bend the truth, such as when he said he reaaaaally wasn´t joining “>the A-team, so we´ll take whatever he says with a bucket of salt.

He was rather specific though, Bradley told WENN in an interview: “We’re going to shoot it next fall… We’ve gotta go to space or something. Some weird thing’s got to happen.”

So who knows, there might be a second Hangover in the making. Would that be any fun at all? With two babies? Twins? Maybe Mary Kate and Ashley?

William Shatner vs Chris Pine

It could have been such a great moment but unfortunately, not all the old cast of Star Trek were happy to meet up with their young prequel counterparts. William Shatner was very much absent on the red carpet at the LA premiere of Star Trek.

The Star Trek veteran who played the original captain James T. Kirk, couldn´t get over his disappointment at not having been cast in the Star Trek movie. “I couldn’t believe it. I’m not in the movie at all. Leonard, God bless his heart, is in, but not me.” Sounds like sour grapes to me, because Shatner was approached about a cameo, but he insisted on a bigger part.

Director JJ Abrams was sorry Shatner refused the smaller part but stuck to his guns about not including old Kirk in a big part. Abrams stated he didn´t want to “shove” Shatner in.

Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana, already famous for her part as lt. Uhura in the next Star Trek movie, is in negotiations to play a special agent in the comic book adaptation The Losers.

It´s a big year for Saldana who will be starring in no fewer than two eagerly awaited movies: Star Trek and James Cameron´s 3D extravaganza Avatar.

Saldana is very excited about her work on Avatar: “I can’t compare it to anything I’ve ever seen, because I haven’t seen anything like it before. It’s going to be just as big as when sound was introduced, or color.” Earlier work includes Pirates of the Caribbean and The Terminal where she plays a Trekkie!

Taylor Lautner

Whether or not Twilight: Breaking Dawn will be made or not is still up in the air, but I´m pretty sure fans will not be disappointed. Martial Arts star Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black, suggested to fans to simply this: “I’m telling fans to go see New Moon at least one more time than you saw Twilight and all will be good”.

The young star is currently up in Vancouver shooting New Moon. In order to get his part as Jacob the Wherewolf in the second installment he needed to beef up considerably. Apparently, he put on almost 30 pounds of pure muscle!!! Wow.

Captain Picard

Patrick Stewart, aka Captain Picard of Star Trek The Next Generation, has won a Laurence Olivier award for his role as Claudius in Hamlet

. It is the third time the X-men star has won the award, which is the academy award for theatre actors.

Stewart may have won three theatre Oscars, but to me he´ll always be Jean-Luc Picard!

Jonathan Frakes

Tonight´s episode of the new TNT drama series Leverage is a bit of a Star trek reunion: TNG´s very own Number One, Will Riker, aka John Frakes is directing and Brent Spiner (Lieutenant Data), Armin Shimerman (Quark from DSN) and Shimerman´s wife, actress Kitty Swink (also from DSN) guest starring.

Frakes is one of the few crew men of the Enterprise who managed to make it beyond conventions and computergames. Frakes has been successful as a director of films and series. Seeing his old buddies must give the episode a bit extra. In an interview with tvsquad Frakes commented:

“I just happened to know these actors who have been around the Star Trek family for so long. They’re great actors and it’s also a great marketing tool for us to make it a Star Trek reunion of sorts. It’s a double hit for us to have members of the Star Trek family on the set and have good actors playing these parts.”

Make it so, Number One!

I’ve been rewatching all seven seasons of Voyager, and as I watched Chakotay strutt his stuff, recalibrating the warp core , the Doctor singing opera, and Janeway being, well, Janeway, I was wondering: where did all these people go?

Did they just fall of the planet? Up sticks to the Delta Quadrant? And then I saw Tuvok as the doorman in Samantha Who? and thought I’d look ‘m all up, maybe even Neelix….

Captain Kathryn Janeway, the impressive Kate Mulgrew, wrote history as the first female captain of the Star Trek series. It did involve a lot more touchy feely scenes than Kirk ever had to put up with. Kirk’s answer to most problems was a fist fight, while Janeway has endless cups of tea with disgruntled crewmembers and even the occasional hug! Recently Mulgrew has been on the stage, starring in Equus.

Janeway’s Number One, Chakotay, hasn’t done much acting since Endgame aired. Sure, he’s been on CSI, but then again, who hasn’t?

Chakotay wasn’t always happy on the show, claiming to be “damned bored” in a couple of seasons because the writers gave him very little to do. Actually, he has a point there, he’s hardly IN season six and when he was he only got to say dull stuff like “Are you sure, captain?”. After a couple of squabbles with the writers, luckily, in the final season he got a lot more to do (and, let’s face it, he got to snog Seven. Repeatedly!) Nowadays he holds a yearly Galaxy Ball which raises funds for the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles.

Ensign Kim, aka Garrett Wang hasn’t done much acting since Voyager. In an interview with Esquire he stated  ”sometimes talent does not measure up to ambition, so you have to seek alternative options.” Bless him! He’ll always be Harry Kim, the guy who fell in love with every unsuitable gal in the Delta Quadrant (including a Borg drone and a dead girl!)

Seven of Nine

Speaking of Borg drones, what happened to the unforgettable Seven of Nine, played by German born Jeri Ryan? Well, she has done very well for herself! First she was on Boston Public, then Boston Legal and finally Shark. Also she swapped her investment banker hubby for a French chef. Yum. Apparently, Seven is quite a dab in the kitchen, she even moonlighted as a chef herself! She and husband Cristophe now own the tres chic L.A. restaurant Ortolan.

More culinary fun comes from Neelix, aka Ethan Philips. He co-wrote the Star Trek Cookbook. In it you’ll find interstellar haute cuisine suitable for Klingons, Vulcans and any other species. Well, maybe not the Borg. Acting gigs include a recent appearance on Bones as a open mike host. And I’m not saying whether he was the murderer!

The Doctor, Robert Picardo, originally attended Yale as a Pre-Med major, but he hung up his stethoscope to pursue a career in acting. Funnily enough, he is most remembered for his two roles as a doctor, on both China Beach and Voyager. Years down the line, Rob is still acting up a storm. Currently he is on Stargate Atlantis as Richard Woolsey, but he’s had roles on anything from CSI:NY to Smallville. If he ever retires he hopes to open a sweet shop!

B’ELanna, Roxann Dawson, is fifty and still looking great. She has since Voyager ended its mission turned her hand to writing! Apart from a play she has written  a sci-fi trilogy Tenebrae. Also she’s a big advocate of The Half the Sky foundation and even auctioned off her Klingon forehead prosthetic to donate to this organization. Good for her, though I imagine there must have been more than one of those?

B’Elanna’s tv hubby Tom Paris, aka Robert McNeill, has also left the small screen to go into directing. Recent credits are Samantha Who?, with former colleague Tuvok,and Chuck.

Tuvok, as said, can be seen as Christina Applegate’s sarcastic doorman on Samantha Who? and also as Principal Ted Franklin in Nickelodeon’s show iCarly. Not a bad score, Mr. Vulcan!
