HIMYM: Right time, right place

HIMYM cast

Ted runs into an old girl friend and explains to his kids how this changed his entire life. Barney reaches the magic 200th notch on his bed post and is looking for a special way to celebrate.

Liked it a lot! Robin puking on live telly, Barney sleeping with a scary body builder, Marshal getting hooked on pie charts (“Here´s a pie chart of my favorite bars, and this is a bar graph of my favorite pies.”) Ted trying to design a restaurant shaped like a cowboy hat (though it can´t be that hard, really?). And the whole messing with flash forwards and backwards.

Big disappointment was, of course, Stella (Sarah Chalke) showing up. Why oh why couldn´t it have been Victoria? So much the more fun character, and she might be back by now, right? God, I had tried to forget dull, dull, DULL Stella who forced Ted to move to New Jersey and then dumped him on their wedding day. Somehow, she was dull even after that. I guess she´ll introduce Ted to the Mrs. somehow, she couldn´t possibly be The Mom, if only because she´s too blonde. And did I mention DULL? It was good that they mentioned Lily, still off having her baby.

>>>Obama´s First Dog disappoints

One lame thing: usually these guys follow through on their easter eggs and gimmicks, like the website on Canadian sexual positions in the hilarious Old King Clancy, but this time the Robin vomits on air-video on Youtube was just plain lame:

That´s it! LAME!

Homeless guy played by Dan Castelleneta aka Homer Simpson was a nice touch though.

HIMYM: Murtaugh

Barney is banished from playing laser tag, which leads to Ted putting it on his Murtaugh List. Marshall takes over Lily´s kindergarten basketball team, but whereas Lily thought it would be great dad practise, Marshall takes it a little too seriously.

McElroy and LeFleur

McElroy and LeFleur

There was some search engine fun: McElroy and Lafleur, according to Robin “the greatest Canadian action movie of all time”.
Of course, we googled.
According to Ohiomm.com, it´s an actual eighties Canadian cop film series, designed as “Laurel and Hardy with uzis” (did they even have uzis in the eighties? Let alone in Canada?) with lead roles for one Jeff Wincott and Clark Johnson. And Denise Anderson, who later changed her name to Pamela. I love that the HIMYM guys have been up all night thinking up this stuff! Must be so much fun!

Funny quotes:

Barney to Ted about completing every single thing on Teds Murtaugh list within 24 hours: “And after I do, you will tp the laser tag place with me!”
Ted: “And if you can´t do it?”
Barney:”I will spend three hours listening to you talking about architecture.”
Ted:”You have got yourself a deal!”

Ted:”Robin, life is a meal and old age is the dessert.”

HIMYM: Lily pregnant?!

Alison Hannigan pregnant

Alison Hannigan pregnant

Now we all know that How I met your Mother´s Lilypad, aka Alyson Hannigan is about to burst with child, but, after hiding her belly in very very funny ways all season, according to EW, there might be an onscreen pregnancy around the corner for Lily and Marshall!

“It’s a distinct possibility,” says EP Carter Bays. “On the one hand, there are a lot of funny baby stories just waiting to be told. But on the other hand, that could mean the end of all the stories we could tell at the bar. You kind of have to reach the point where it’s like, “All right, there are no more stories to tell in the bar, so it’s time to start telling baby stories.”

Personally, I really think babies are no fun and something to be kept at home in a crib until it can hold a drink, but yeah, I guess there could be some funny baby stories? On the other hand, I like them like this! In a bar, slugging beer!

Grandpa Dan seems back to his old tricks, I like it! Who´s he gonna kill now?
Naley moving out of Tree Hill? Peyton having a miscarriage? Unfortunatly, it´ll probably all turn out to be nothing at all. But I´ll be watching anyway, just to make sure!

HIMYM: The Stinsons

Barney Stinson

Barney Stinson

The gang is curious because Barney has been acting strange lately, being evasive about where he´s going, buying flowers and telling someone on the phone ´I love you´. They decide to follow him and find out his big secret: Barney has a wife and a child nobody knew about!

>>>Javier Bardem to sweep Julia Roberts off her feet?

Fun, fun, fun. Barney setting up a kind of Truman Show for his mom, auditioning for a son (“I´m not afraid to recast!”) and writing lines for every dinner. The others were rather sidelined with only Marshall getting any funny lines in. I can imagine that in a while the other actors might get a bit miffed that Barney gets all the good story lines. Even Ted had very little to do, other than snog Barney´s ´wife´.

NCIS spin-off with LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell!

Chris O'Donnell in the new NCIS!

Chris O'Donnell

NCIS was initially a bit of a slow burner, but after six seasons the show about Naval Criminal Inverstigative Services is staggeringly popular. Popular enough for its own two disc soundtrack and the inevitable spin-off.  Itsself a, way more exciting, spin-off of JAG, NCIS 2.0 is going to hit our screens early next year.

I remember, back in the day, that there used to be jokes in the script about CSI and NCIS, but nowadays, the shows are often competing for the highest spots in the ratings.

LL Cool J will be portraying an ex Navy SEAL whereas Chris O’Donnell will be a bit of a human chameleon. Maybe he can reuse his Batman & Robin-suit somehow?

HIMYM: The Possimpible (S04E14)

Feb 3, 2009 Author: Liz | Filed under: Celebrities, HIMYM

Robin’s been unemployed for so long that she’s facing deportation back to Canada. Barney can’t face a world without her and tries to help by making a video resume.

I loved it! Barney is incredibly funny, his resume is, in a word, >>>Twilight: Robert & Kristen hook up after all?

“>awesome. Here’s a link

The gang starts mocking each other’s silly resume parts: Marshall still has himself down as a dunking champion, even though he hasn’t been able to dunk for years, due to a, errr, ‘basketball’ injury. Ted still has his college radioshow and Lily her hotdog eating championship. Very, very funny (and was that Alyson Hannigan’s actual, pregnant belly?) but it also made me think: I was my university’s Trivial Pursuit Champion in 1997. Maybe it is time to remove that from my resume….

Funny quotes:

Barney: From all of us in Barney’s appartment: Get out!

HIMYM: Three days of snow (S04E12)

Lily & Marshall

Loved it! Best ep of the season so far!!!
Lily and Marshall have a ritual where whenever they come back from a trip they bring a six pack of beer and the other one picks them up. This time, they’ve decided their relationship is ‘mature’ and they shouldn’t have those silly rituals any more. But then they change their minds and have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it done after all.

Marshall and Lily are an inspiration to us all! Yes, keep all your traditions, however silly or insignificant!
