Justin & Rebecca

Justin & Rebecca

Justin and Kevin have to break the news of Tommy´s disappearance to the rest of the family. The family is aghast. Nora´s busy opening her new cancer center and Robert offers to “help”.
Ryan is still putting the moves on Rebecca and Justin and Rebecca keep drifting further apart.

Ryan (am I the only one who keeps mixing up Ryan and Evan?) thinks his mom may have killed herself because of William Walker and is trying rope Rebecca into helping him find out more about what happened.
Sarah´s company Greenatopia is moving into their first offices. Julia is pissed off at Tommy and I guess she´s right. Robert´s behaving like a royal jerk. Alec the park guy is CUTE!!! And he doesn´t wear eyeliner ;) David and Holly are SO cute together! And good for Holly for dropping the charges, I seriously don´t think I could have been quite as magnaminous.

Are Emily van Camp and Dave Annable dating?

Alledgedly, Rebecca (Emily van Camp) and Justin (Dave Annable) were sweethearts in real life for a while, but broke up early 2008. I wasn´t thrilled about this development and I still think they make a disturbing couple. Also, apart from being cute, they don´t seem to have a hell of a lot going for them and pretty much zero chemistry.

However this was kind of a lame way for them to break up. I was literally shouting at the tv for Rebecca to give Justin another shot. And not fall for that age old soap opera gag where one guy weazles his way into another man´s relationship by backstabbing and gossip… Alas, guess Rebecca doesn´t watch quite enough As the world turns! Ryan is obviously kinda evil and that´s a nice turn for the books. To many nice people make B&S dull dull DULL. Guess Ryan can claim part of the estate as well? That could be fun…

Brothers and Sisters: Lost and Found

The Brothers and Sisters Cast

The Brothers and Sisters Cast

As an episode, Lost and found was pretty ok. Kitty talks about her marital problems to Time magazine and later finds out someone (guess who) has killed the story. Nora goes up to Berkely to visit Ryan and answer some of his questions. Rebecca goes to New York to find her real dad, David. Holly gets suspicious of the business deal with the new vineyard.

I like Ryan, especially since he could still turn out evil. Nora grovelled a bit too much: it´s hardly her fault her hubby couldn´t stop chasing skirt. Though she might´ve divorced him, but that wouldn´t miraculously have meant that William and Ryan´s mom would have lived happily ever after. Actually, the guy who raised Ryan looked like a decent guy, so he can count himself lucky! And he may get a chunk of the Walker pie.

Kitty should totally dump Robert. He´s no good and he never will be and she will be raising that kid on her own. Maybe they can make a deal, where she holds off on divorcing him til she has legally adopted and he can run for governor? I don´t think they´ll give that baby to a woman going through a divorce. Though Cuddy in House got one, no sweat, and she´s a single mom. Anyway, Holly found out about Tommy´s scam. How stupid is this guy that everyone with half a brain can figure out he´s trying to pull a not-so-fast one? And using the same trick his old dad used? Get some new material man! And how did he get his hands on that pension fund?

In two weeks there´ll be a two hour episode of Brothers and Sisters. Kitty will get her baby and somebody is going to die. Soooo….. Who´s it going to be?

Kitty & Robert

Kitty & Robert

Kitty is on tour with her book about her family but nobody seems particularily interested. Also she starts to suspect that Robert is keeping a big secret; Sarah has some serious financial issues that could kill her start up Greenatopia before it’s even started. Tommy tries to find allies to push Holly out of the family business and finds help in an unsuspected place.

Quite an interesting episode. How well do we know, or trust, the people we’re married to? Well, not all that well apparently. I must say, I never thought Robert and Kitty very convincing as a couple. Having sex on a desk does not a marriage make. It takes shared jokes, a whole lot of screaming and yes, sharing all your (most embarrassing) secrets! Robert running for governor without telling his wife, while on the verge of adopting a child is just plain WRONG. And spells doom in my book.

Funny quote:

Saul: Why are you so obsessed with my social life?
Nora: Not obsessed. You’re my favorite brother.
Saul: Only brother.
Nora: In this family, you never know.

Liked it! Lot of different, possibly explosive story lines! Robert, obviously, keeping stuff from Kitty, none of the siblings showing up for her book reading (So where was Tommy? Jerk!)
And speaking of Tommy the Jerk: guess he’ll be on his way to prison soon. I really don’t like him (as if that wasn’t obvious) maybe he’ll get killed in a riot? Poor Rebecca, trying to do a good job and then getting screwed by her sort-of bro. I actually thought they were all right to let Sarah take out a second mortgage to make up for the money: why on earth should Kitty run the risk? And get yelled at for her pains? I thought Kitty got a raw deal this ep, deceitful hubby, unsupportive siblings, yelled at by sis, lied to by brother Kevin… Poor las. She was wearing a great coat though and that handbag!!!

Uncle Saul aka Ron Rifkin

Uncle Saul aka Ron Rifkin

Sarah cooks a celebratory dinner for Scotty who’s had a raise, Justin tries to set Saul up. Kevin has to deal with a pay cut and tries to compensate by buying a mansion.

Rather slow episode. Again. And not really realistic. Sooo. Nora goes out to buy a house for her charity without checking the inside and whoever is funding it is ok with that? Just let any old housewife with too much time on her hands squander millions on some house that might be filled with rats or fungi? And then Kevin ends up buying the house his mom wants to buy. Because he’s feeling low he’s buying a mansion of over 700.000 dollars?! That’s some retail therapy. To top it all off,  he simply expects his mom to take the house off his hands when he finds out Scotty doens’t want it.It’s all a bit neat and especially in this time of global crisis, with lots of people having to sell their homes because they can’t afford it, a little insensitive. Who are these people who can just fork over nearly a million on a whim? “I’ll just dip into my savings”?! Then there’s the weird Sarah cooking Scotty dinner thing. I know these writers love nothing more than a Walker family dinner where everyone spills the beans about everybody else, but wouldn’t they ever tire of it themselves? And who would invite a guy whose just made head chef at some fancy schmancy restaurant over for chicken piccata? And who… Oh, forget it. They definitely need a bit more action, a new bad guy. Where’s Ryan? What evil schemes is his dad plotting? Thank God Lionel Luthor?! Aka John Glover is coming to the rescue!

Soooo, Saul is seeing someone. And not Paul (hello-o, how out of touch is Justin anyway? A fat ex-druggie vs rather suave and sophisticated uncle Saul? I’m guessing it is Lionel Luthor and that stuff might get interesting very soon. Let’s hope so, ’cause this was kinda boring.

I like the new, confident and stubbly Scotty though!

Robert and Kitty

Robert and Kitty

Kitty’s acting so incredibly neurotic that she might spook the birthmom, Justin says ‘I love you’ to Rebecca and she just says ‘thanks’ (ouch!) and Kevin starts working for his brother in law the senator and has a lot of trouble adjusting. Tommy and Julia spend their anniversary with the entire Walker clan at Magic Manor.

Whaat? ‘The magic of Tommy and Julia’? They both cheated! Like, last Wednesday! Where’s the magic in that? And who on earth celebrates their wedding aaniversary with a herd of overbearing siblings and a meddling mom? Poor, poor Julia ends up being a prop at her own party.

Kitty went in full blown Ally McBeal-mode this episode. Reminded me why I stopped watching. The endless banter, the nervous facial expressions. Poor Robert! The birth mom turned out to be a well educated, self assured, black doctor, not your usual down on her luck trashy teen. How could they not have known that?!

Justin totally freaked Rebecca out by just showing up in her bathroom and standing there. Yikes. That would have freaked me out SO BAD! There’s horror movies based on less than that. And why the hell did she put on her huge towel while still under the shower???!!! Who does that?

Still, liked the episode. Sarah and her geeky new colleagues sitting around, Kitty and George baking cup cakes together, and I do believe senator McAllister is getting cuter all the time.

Good quote:
Robert to Kitty: “If you’re not ready to have your heart broken, you’re not ready to be a parent”

Here’s the link! It actually works! (or at least it did this morning ;)

Sarah, Nora and Kitty Walker

Sarah, Nora and Kitty Walker

Is it me or is Scotty’s mom awfully young? Anyway, yes, Kevin and Rebecca finally had sex. Still felt a bit ickey. Nora got her grant, basically because her cheating husband used to play golf with the big money guy, not really a wonderful start to her independence spree, but hey, those sick families will get their 17 million dollar house.

Holly and Rebecca got a little drunk together and seem to be mending bridges. I actually like Holly and I was sorry she got such a lousy deal. Not only didn’t she get the guy, he was cheating on her as well? Jeez. Well, she did get all that lovely money….

I actually thought Kevin was right to kick up a fuss and yes, I like that they are both still a little uneasy about the gay marriage thing: I wish it wasn’t so, but most of society still has to get used to two guys, or girls, being a married couple (did I mention Vote no on prop 8?), so it’s only natural that they’re still finding their feet.

Dave Anna aka Justin Walker

Dave Annable aka Justin Walker

I like Brothers and sisters, it’s sharp and funny and there’s some great acting. Not by Calista Flockhart, but Matthew Rhys, Rachel Griffiths and Sally Field rock. I hope I look half as good as Sally Field when I’m her age.

Anyway, the new storyline with yet another illegitimate child spawned by their dad? Really? How very As the world turns or Dallas even.

The thing that bugs me about this is why would anyone go looking for a half brother they never met? Why would they care at all? Sarah and Kevin jumped all over this, Kevin left his new husband on their wedding night to go and talk to Sarah about this new brother. Why?!!

My dad’s not the most, err, monogamous of people, and if any halfsiblings ever end up on my doorstep I’ll share a beer with them, sure. Maybe even mix ‘em a g&t. But getting all in a huff and loosing sleep over them? Heck no.

The Walkers already have family enough to satisfy a whole rack of Hallmark cards, and a not-so-related illegitimate sister, so why add to that? I know, the storyline, obviously, but why not let sleeping dogs lie? And why o why would Sarah and Kevin tell their mom before they even found this guy? Hasn’t she had enough to deal with? Must suck so badly that you find out all this stuff about your husband after he’s dead. You can’t yell, there’s no point egging his car or cutting up all his clothes….
